Dear Parents/Guardians, Happy Friday! We had another great week at Silver Creek! Please see the following school updates as we close out the week… School will not be in session on Friday, February 16th (Teachers' Institute) and Monday, February 19th (Presidents’ Day). Please consider helping us by clicking the link below and taking the 5 Essentials Survey. Illinois schools conduct this research-based survey annually to help identify strengths and weaknesses in their school’s climate and learning conditions. The results from this survey provide data that we will assess in an effort to improve our school. Survey Link - http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/ Our 4th and 5th grade classes will be taking this school climate survey as well. Student participants will log-in using their state student ID and birth date in order to complete the survey. Students’ identities will be completely confidential. Teachers or administrators will never see individual responses to survey questions and will only receive aggregated information, such as the total percentage of students who agree homework assignments help them learn the course material. If you do not want your son or daughter to participate in the survey, please let me know. Finally, Our school social workers, Mike Goodberlet and Emily Pingsterhaus, are currently collaborating with all of our teachers and setting up 30 minute classroom presentations on Erin’s Law beginning the week of February 27th. Erin’s Law requires Illinois schools to provide child sexual abuse prevention education for all students, early childhood through 12th grade, annually. Our school social workers will use the Second Step Child Protection Unit Curriculum to facilitate prevention education. The objective of this lesson is to educate students regarding personal body safety. The content that will be utilized for each grade’s lesson is age appropriate and will be presented to each grade level only once. 🚨 The 2024-2025 District Calendar was approved at last night's Board of Education Meeting and can be found on the homepage of our district and school websites. 🚨

Due to the forecasted freezing rain and ice and the potential for hazardous roads tomorrow morning, Triad CUSD #2 will conduct an e-Learning Day on Monday, January 22, 2024. Determinations regarding afternoon and evening extracurricular activities will be made by late morning tomorrow, and students participating in these activities will receive additional information from their respective school or coach regarding the status of events. Students and families should read the “Inclement Weather Update - January 2024” news article posted on the district and all school websites for additional information regarding e-Learning for each grade level band.

Due to the forecast of dangerously low temperatures for tomorrow morning, Triad CUSD #2 will conduct an e-Learning Day on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Dear Parents/Guardians, Happy Friday! We made it to December! The end of the 1st semester of school is just 14 school days away! I wanted to take a moment and bring a few December dates to your attention as we close out the week... PTO Pancakes and Pajamas is set to take place on Friday, December 8th. It is going to be a great holiday event held at Silver Creek. This is a friendly reminder that tickets must be purchased in advance by December 3rd. We are excited that our 1st and 3rd graders will be performing a Holiday Musical at Silver Creek on Tuesday, December 12th! Our 1st grade performance will begin at 6:30pm and our 3rd grade performance will begin at 7:30pm. For planning purposes and traffic control, please note that each performance will last approximately a half an hour. Our next Gum, Hat, & PJ Day will take place on Friday, December 15th!...This fundraiser is always a student favorite at Silver Creek (Cash only…$1 to wear a hat, $1 to wear PJ’s, $0.25 piece of gum during lunch periods). Best of luck to our 4th/5th grade Children’s Choir at their holiday concert at Triad High School on Tuesday, December 19th! Our last day of school before the holiday break is Thursday, December 21st. School will dismiss an hour early on this day.
