📅 At their February 26th board meeting, the Triad Board of Education voted to change the School Improvement Day scheduled for April 24, 2024 to April 8, 2024 due to the solar eclipse occurring during secondary dismissal on April 8th. The revised calendar has been posted on the district and all school websites.

Dear Parents/Guardians, Happy Friday! We had another great week at Silver Creek! Please see the following school updates as we close out the week… School will not be in session on Friday, February 16th (Teachers' Institute) and Monday, February 19th (Presidents’ Day). Please consider helping us by clicking the link below and taking the 5 Essentials Survey. Illinois schools conduct this research-based survey annually to help identify strengths and weaknesses in their school’s climate and learning conditions. The results from this survey provide data that we will assess in an effort to improve our school. Survey Link - http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/ Our 4th and 5th grade classes will be taking this school climate survey as well. Student participants will log-in using their state student ID and birth date in order to complete the survey. Students’ identities will be completely confidential. Teachers or administrators will never see individual responses to survey questions and will only receive aggregated information, such as the total percentage of students who agree homework assignments help them learn the course material. If you do not want your son or daughter to participate in the survey, please let me know. Finally, Our school social workers, Mike Goodberlet and Emily Pingsterhaus, are currently collaborating with all of our teachers and setting up 30 minute classroom presentations on Erin’s Law beginning the week of February 27th. Erin’s Law requires Illinois schools to provide child sexual abuse prevention education for all students, early childhood through 12th grade, annually. Our school social workers will use the Second Step Child Protection Unit Curriculum to facilitate prevention education. The objective of this lesson is to educate students regarding personal body safety. The content that will be utilized for each grade’s lesson is age appropriate and will be presented to each grade level only once. 🚨 The 2024-2025 District Calendar was approved at last night's Board of Education Meeting and can be found on the homepage of our district and school websites. 🚨

Due to the forecasted freezing rain and ice and the potential for hazardous roads tomorrow morning, Triad CUSD #2 will conduct an e-Learning Day on Monday, January 22, 2024. Determinations regarding afternoon and evening extracurricular activities will be made by late morning tomorrow, and students participating in these activities will receive additional information from their respective school or coach regarding the status of events. Students and families should read the “Inclement Weather Update - January 2024” news article posted on the district and all school websites for additional information regarding e-Learning for each grade level band.
