Classroom

Across the district, teachers are preparing students for upcoming state testing that begins in late March and early April.  Students in grades 3rd through 8th take a Math and English Language Arts Test.  In 9th and 10th grades, students take a Pre-SAT test while our juniors take the SAT college entrance exam. Over the next few weeks, teachers will spend a portion of the school day helping students sharpen their skills, practice test taking strategies, and building their confidence.

I visited classrooms recently where teachers have taken a unique classroom design approach to help students become more comfortable while learning. These classrooms offer a variety of different types of seating for their students.  It reminds me of the choices we make in our own homes when trying to “get comfortable.”   Classrooms offered low to the floor seating, reclined seating, soft cushions, low and high level desks and more.  I witnessed students in the classrooms I visited looking relaxed, comfortable, attentive and engaged in the lesson.  Check out these pictures of some of our Triad elementary classrooms.
